Zen Canine Terms and Conditions

Effective date: August 2, 2026
Last updated: August 2, 2026

Zen Canine is operated by Uniquely Simple Solutions (“Zen Canine,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Zen Canine website, scheduling tools, digital content, and services. Zen Canine is operated by Uniquely Simple Solutions (“Zen Canine,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By visiting our website, scheduling an appointment, purchasing a service or package, enrolling in a course, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. SERVICES

Zen Canine provides services that may include:

  • Initial assessments
  • Private family coaching
  • One-on-one dog training
  • Virtual coaching
  • Digital courses and educational materials
  • Enrichment visits and neighborhood walks
  • Related training plans, recommendations, and support

Specific service details, prices, durations, eligibility requirements, and package inclusions are provided on our website, booking page, proposal, or service agreement.

We may determine that a requested service is not appropriate for a particular dog, household, location, or safety situation. When appropriate, we may recommend another service or professional.

2. ELIGIBILITY

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into an agreement to purchase or schedule services.

The person scheduling a service confirms that they are authorized to make decisions regarding the dog and property involved. A parent or legal guardian must enter into agreements involving a minor.

3. DISCOVERY CALLS, ASSESSMENTS, AND INTAKE FORMS

Certain services require Initial Assessment, completed intake forms, or a separate service agreement before appointments may begin.

New Enrichment Visit & Neighborhood Walk clients must submit all required intake forms at least 48 hours before the scheduled appointment. Appointments may be rescheduled if these requirements are not completed by the deadline.

Clients must provide complete and accurate information about their dog’s health, medications, behavior, bite history, triggers, handling needs, and safety risks. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in suspension or termination of services without a refund for services already provided.

4. SCHEDULING

Appointments are subject to availability and are not guaranteed until confirmed.

You are responsible for reviewing the appointment date, time, location, service type, and preparation instructions. Please notify us promptly if any information is incorrect.

Appointment lengths are approximate. Time may be used for direct training, family coaching, observation, discussion, planning, documentation, or other activities reasonably related to the service.

5. FEES AND PAYMENT

Current prices are displayed on our website, booking platform, invoice, or service proposal. Unless otherwise stated, payment is due when the service or package is booked.

Applicable taxes, processing charges, travel fees, and approved add-on services may be charged separately.

The Initial Assessment fee is $150. If you purchase an eligible Zen Canine training package within 30 days of the assessment, the $150 assessment payment will be applied toward the package’s total price.

Packages are intended for the purchasing client and household and may not be transferred or shared without written approval.

6. CANCELLATIONS, RESCHEDULING, AND MISSED APPOINTMENTS

Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment using the scheduling link or by contacting Zen Canine.

Appointments cancelled with less than the required notice and missed appointments may:

  • Be charged in full
  • Result in loss of the scheduled package session
  • Require payment before another appointment can be scheduled

Exceptions may be considered individually for emergencies, severe weather, illness, or circumstances outside the client’s reasonable control.

If Zen Canine must cancel an appointment, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule it. Our responsibility is limited to rescheduling the affected service or refunding the amount paid for that appointment, when appropriate.

7. PACKAGES AND EXPIRATION

Package services must be scheduled and completed within the period stated at purchase. Package terms may include limits on scheduling frequency, expiration dates, availability, and email-support periods.

Unused or expired sessions are not redeemable for cash. Refunds, extensions, or transfers are available only when approved in writing or required by law.

8. TRAVEL AND SERVICE AREA

Travel within 25 miles of Zen Canine’s business location is included with eligible in-person services.

Appointments outside the standard travel area may be available for an additional trip charge:

  • 26–35 miles: $25
  • 36–45 miles: $50
  • More than 45 miles: Contact Zen Canine for availability and a custom quote

Travel distances are calculated between the service address and Zen Canine’s business location. Any applicable charge will be confirmed before the appointment is finalized.

9. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate health, behavioral, household, and safety information
  • Inform us promptly of any changes
  • Follow reasonable preparation and safety instructions
  • Provide safe access to the training or service location
  • Supply appropriate leashes, harnesses, treats, and equipment
  • Ensure legally required licenses and vaccinations are current
  • Supervise children and other household members when appropriate
  • Practice recommended skills consistently and humanely
  • Treat Zen Canine personnel respectfully

Zen Canine may pause, modify, or end an activity when we believe continuing would be unsafe or inappropriate.

10. DOG HEALTH AND SAFETY

You must notify Zen Canine before an appointment if your dog:

  • Is ill, injured, or showing signs of a contagious condition
  • Has experienced a recent behavioral or medical change
  • Has bitten, attempted to bite, or displayed aggressive behavior
  • Has a handling sensitivity, escape risk, or known trigger
  • Requires medication or physical accommodations

Zen Canine does not provide veterinary care or medical advice. Questions concerning a dog’s health should be directed to a licensed veterinarian.

In an emergency, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you or your designated emergency contact. Any veterinary treatment, transportation, or related expense remains the client’s responsibility unless otherwise required by law.

11. ENRICHMENT VISITS AND NEIGHBORHOOD WALKS

Enrichment services are personalized according to the dog’s age, abilities, comfort level, environment, and weather.

Activities may include walks, sniffing opportunities, interactive games, confidence-building exercises, or reinforcement of familiar skills. Zen Canine may change, shorten, relocate, move indoors, reschedule, or cancel an activity when weather, health, behavior, or environmental conditions are unsafe.

A second dog from the same household may participate only when Zen Canine determines that both dogs can safely participate together. The applicable second-dog fee will be charged.

Enrichment services support well-being and skill maintenance. They do not replace a behavior consultation, structured training program, veterinary treatment, or emergency care.

12. IN-HOME AND COMMUNITY SERVICES

You authorize Zen Canine to enter the agreed service areas and interact with your dog for the scheduled service.

You are responsible for providing accurate entry, parking, alarm, access, and property instructions. The service area must be reasonably safe and free from undisclosed hazards.

Community-based sessions are subject to changing conditions, including traffic, weather, people, animals, noise, and access restrictions. Activities may be modified when necessary for safety.

13. VIRTUAL COACHING AND DIGITAL COURSES

Virtual services require a compatible device, reliable internet connection, and an appropriate environment. Zen Canine is not responsible for interruptions caused by the client’s technology or internet service.

Courses, downloads, videos, plans, and educational materials are licensed to the purchaser for personal, noncommercial use. They may not be copied, recorded, distributed, resold, published, or shared without written permission.

Digital materials provide general education and do not guarantee a specific result. Clients remain responsible for deciding whether an exercise is appropriate and safe for their dog and household.

14. TRAINING RESULTS

Every dog and household is different. Results depend on factors including history, health, environment, consistency, participation, and circumstances outside Zen Canine’s control.

Zen Canine does not guarantee that any behavior will be fully resolved, that a dog will perform a particular skill, or that progress will occur within a particular period.

Training recommendations are educational and are not a substitute for veterinary, legal, mental-health, or other licensed professional advice.

15. PHOTOS, VIDEOS, AND RECORDINGS

Zen Canine may use photos or recordings to document progress, provide coaching, or prepare service updates.

Identifiable images or recordings will not be used for public advertising or promotional purposes without separate permission. Virtual sessions may not be recorded by either party without consent.

17. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Zen Canine may use third-party services for scheduling, payment processing, video meetings, email, text messaging, course delivery, website hosting, and analytics.

Your use of those platforms may also be governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. Zen Canine is not responsible for a third party’s independent services, availability, or practices.

You may use materials provided to you for your personal household training needs. No ownership rights are transferred to you. Commercial use, resale, publication, reproduction, or distribution requires prior written permission.

19. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Working with dogs involves inherent risks, including bites, scratches, falls, escapes, property damage, interactions with other animals, and unexpected behavior.

You acknowledge these risks and agree to follow reasonable safety instructions. You remain responsible for your dog, household members, property, and compliance with applicable animal-control laws unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms waives rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be waived.

20. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for a claim will not exceed the amount you paid Zen Canine for the service directly giving rise to that claim.

These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited.

21. INDEMNIFICATION

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Zen Canine and Uniquely Simple Solutions harmless from third-party claims, damages, or expenses caused by:

  • Inaccurate or withheld information
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your failure to follow safety instructions
  • Your dog’s actions when outside Zen Canine’s agreed care or control
  • Unsafe property conditions that were not disclosed

22. EVENTS OUTSIDE OF OUR CONTROL

Zen Canine is not responsible for delays or inability to perform caused by severe weather, illness, emergencies, natural disasters, utility or internet failures, government actions, unsafe conditions, or other events outside our reasonable control.

23. TERMINATION OF SERVICES

Either party may end the service relationship, subject to applicable package, payment, and cancellation terms.

Zen Canine may immediately suspend or terminate services because of safety risks, nonpayment, harassment, repeated policy violations, undisclosed behavior or health concerns, or circumstances that make continued service inappropriate.

24. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of IOWA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any legal action relating to these Terms or Zen Canine’s services must be brought in the appropriate state or federal court located in POLK COUNTY AND STATE OF IOWA, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

25. SEVERABILITY AND ENTIRE AGREEMENT

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

These Terms, our Privacy Policy, booking details, package terms, waivers, and any signed service agreement constitute the agreement between you and Zen Canine. If a signed service agreement conflicts with these website Terms, the signed agreement will control for that service.
